Kaleta scores in OT to help Sabres snap road skid

Hockey Betting Lines

03/07/2010 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Patrick Kaleta scored the game-winner 2:22 into overtime, as the Buffalo Sabres edged the New York Rangers, 2-1, at Madison Square Garden.

With the overtime period halfway over, Kaleta charged down the right side of the ice and fired a shot on net. Kaleta collected the rebound behind the net and was able to jam the disc past Henrik Lundqvist, who had his pads stacked against the post.

Adam Mair scored in regulation for the Sabres, who snapped an eight-game road skid. Ryan Miller made 35 saves for Buffalo, which won away from home for the first time since January 18.

Brandon Dubinsky lit the lamp for the Rangers, who have dropped three in a row following a three-game win streak.

The goaltenders dominated the first two periods of play. Miller stopped 16 and six shots in the first and second frames, respectively, while Lundqvist made 12 and nine saves over the first two stanzas.

Buffalo got on the board at the 14:03 mark of the third. Derek Roy slid a pass from behind the net to Mair, whose snap shot beat Lundqvist.

A Jochen Hecht slashing penalty put the Rangers on the power play a few minutes later. Dubinsky capitalized for New York by chipping in a rebound off a Michael Del Zotto shot with 1:23 left to deadlock the game.

Neither team scored the rest of the way to send the tilt into overtime.

Game Notes

The Sabres lead the season series with the Rangers, 2-1...Buffalo's eight-game road skid matched the longest road losing streak in the franchise's 39 seasons of existence, an 0-5-3 stretch during the 2007-08 campaign.

MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds

With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.

Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season.  Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.

This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy.  A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.

Current betting odds Heisman trophy are:

Stanley Cup betting

New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.

The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.

MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.

Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.
